Description: The course will introduce students to programming through Processing, an open-source programming environment for developing audio-visual artworks. The basic concepts of programming will be taught through examples and exercises with visual outputs, which will help people with no previous knowledge understand abstract concepts. We will also try to dispel the notion that programming is accessible only to experts in digital technologies. The exercises proposed will be based on common methodologies for creating generative or parametric art, which may serve as design tools for those interested in visual arts from fields like photography, graphic design, painting, video or animation. |
